“Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share”
–1 Timothy 6:18
The Agency for Philanthropy implements programs such as Raise the Phoenix and Sacred Scarlets Scholarships. These programs contribute money and necessary supplies to various organizations and individuals. These include conservation organizations working directly with scarlet macaws in the wild, individuals who provide services to these organizations such as veterinarians, veterinarian students, and rescue organizations here in the states dedicated to the care of psittacine species.
Raise the Phoenix
The Raise the Phoenix program designates funds to specific rescue organizations to help provide for scarlet macaws in need. Although Sacred Scarlets’ primary focus is to bring about awareness of scarlet macaw conservation and it’s wide ranging multicultural significance we must not ignore the often heartbreaking plight of these birds in captivity. Scarlet macaws are not domesticated animals. Their beauty and intelligence seduces us and sound reasoning falls by the wayside yet their wild nature prevails. The result is often devastating, even deadly. Scarlet macaws live up to 75 years in captivity. Often they are relinquished to rescues with extensive medical needs. When you make a donation to Sacred Scarlets a portion will go towards making a direct impact on specific scarlet macaws in rescue.
Sacred Scarlets Scholarships
Scholarships will be are awarded to individuals interested in making a significant impact in the conservation of scarlet macaws. Students studying biology or veterinary medicine can get hands on experience under the supervision of scientists and veterinarians while providing much needed support in the wild.
